When I read this quote, it truly embodies why I started Weight Loss with Real Food. I wanted to inspire others to live a better life. I wanted them to find the hope and the confidence to live a healthy lifestyle without the blame or shame of veering off a specific plan.
It originally came from my own disparity, I have struggled with an eating disorder my entire life and turned to plans and other groups for hope, help, peace of mind and of course weight loss. While I did find small wins in weight loss, and some support here and there, what I mostly found was a lot of wrong information, shame, judgement, and confusion.
There had to be a place that I could trust for honest answers and some compassion. In my quest to find this sacred place where I could share my thoughts and ask real questions what I found was people longing for a place just like me. People who wanted to lose weight and feel as great and as powerful on the inside as they were beginning to look on the outside.
I found people terrified to ever pick up food again for fear of weight gain. I found moms, grandmothers, wives, husbands, and fathers desperate to lose weight and keep it off but afraid of sharing real stories or asking complex questions for fear of being ridiculed or of not fitting in. I found people JUST LIKE ME!
At one point I asked myself why I was even looking for a group. I’ve had years of experience dieting and successfully keeping off weight. I have taken classes on nutrition, weight loss and exercise and have spent thousands of dollars on a cure for this horrible disease they call food addiction. I could write a book on how to lose weight, read labels, I could train the worst overeaters to be disciplined and provide them with knowledge on how to become the best versions of themselves so why look for a group? Then it dawned on me, SUPPORT!
I took a chance, and started blogging my journey, with recipes, grocery lists and mini videos to remind myself of all that I had learned and as I watched others crying out for desperation in shared groups I began to reach out. The need for kindness, grace, understanding, and education was vast. Never had I imagined so many people in similar situations.
It is with great pleasure and pride that I manage the Weight Loss with Real Food group. Together we are making the difference in the lives of thousands while allowing them to have grace and make mistakes as they learn. We are a place of kindness and assistance, a safe place for people to reach out and ask as they transform their minds and bodies into better versions of themselves. Not only are they losing weight, they are learning how to keep it off and how to show others as well.
Weight Loss with Real Food is not just a weight loss group, it is a place of hope where people take pride and ownership in their own journey. Thank you all for making this group what it is today, I cannot wait to see how many lives we change along the way.
